Our Story:

The Brookhouse Residence was commissioned to be built in 1908 by real estate agent George N. Jordan. The current historic name was not imprinted until after 1921 when Albert Arthur Brookhouse purchased the property and moved his family in. A. A. Brookhouse was one of Vancouver’s prominent figures as he and his business partner, Harry Cowan, were owner-operators of Cowan & Brookhouse - a very successful commercial printing and publishing operation. The neighbourhood used to be referred to as “Grandview Hill” and was home to all sorts of elite members of Vancouver’s society; similar to what Shaughnessy is today.

After 40 years and a few owners, developer James Evans was approached by the City of Vancouver with an interest in collaborating on a project to restore the then abandoned home into a small multi-family development. With a passion for maintaining the neighbourhood, James was excited to restore the old heritage home dubbed, “A keystone to our past,” thus the one-of-a-kind Brookhouse Residences was born and will carry on a legacy of unique heritage living for generations to come.

The Brookhouse Residences are located at the corner of Parker Street and Victoria Drive in East Vancouver, just two blocks east from the vibrant Commercial Drive making them well-connected to the best that the city has to offer. Situated near transit, Trout Lake Community Centre, and a vast selection of eateries and coffee shops including Via Tevere Pizzeria and Moja Coffee.
